Cards

Some nerfs to healing and other game-slowing effects. Changed some units to draw cheapest spell into play, to help deckbuilding. Cut the 0c units Songbird and Elderwood from deckbuilding, which should slow down some spooky strategies.

Krystal - Death: Give your hero Vapors.

Lightning Vial - Do 3 Damage to a random enemy. If lethal, dust it.

Cobalt - Summon: Draw your cheapest metal spell onto this unit.

Earwig - Death: Give units in your hand Fate.

Burner - Inspire Fire: Give Flames to a random enemy.

Ember Wolf -

Glacia - Death: Give enemy units Frozen.

Vitalize - Make target unit's power equal to its health. Give it Roots.

Reaper - After another ally dies, dust it to do 2 Damage to a random enemy.

Squiddy - Glory: Conjure a 1c enemy card.

Teenage Witch - Get 2 mana when another ally dies.

King Rex - Summon: Enemies lose guard.

Wed Dead (955)

Wed Dead - If target ally unit is dark, give it Fate. Kill it. Gain 1 max mana.

Text: Kill target ally unit. Give your hero health equal to its cost. Gain 1 max mana. ➞ If target ally unit is dark, give it Fate. Kill it. Gain 1 max mana.

Wed Dead could pull a lot of healing out of nowhere, including on Priestess. Swapped the healing for a conditional draw.

Rosewater Charm (467)

Rosewater Charm - Get 2 mana next turn. Give your hero +3 Health.

Text: Get 2 mana next turn. Give your hero +4 Health. ➞ Get 2 mana next turn. Give your hero +3 Health.

Minor nerf to healing on a popular card.

Undragon (152)

Undragon - Summon: Summon two Zomboid.

    Health: 8 ➞ 7

Minor nerf to a big lifesteal unit.

Moltenous (877)

Moltenous - Death: Do 4 Damage to each unit and give each Flames.

    Health: 7 ➞ 6

Making this easier to clear, which increases the risk of playing this with a board. It does well in Discovery, especially for an 8c unit.

Sick Burn (690)

Sick Burn - Discard your left card in hand to do damage equal to its cost to target unit. Give it Flames.

Text: Discard your left card in hand to do damage equal to its cost to target unit. ➞ Discard your left card in hand to do damage equal to its cost to target unit. Give it Flames.

    Keywords: wither ➞ None

Trading wither for Flames to increase the base damage.

Whelm (753)

Whelm - Return 3c or less units to hand. Give them Vapors.

    Cost: 2 ➞ 3

Strict cost nerf. Has strong build-around upside for a card that naturally resets fast boards.

Jar of Souls (805)

Jar of Souls - Summon your top three dead units as 1/1 with lifesteal wither and Hex. Ready them.

    Cost: 7 ➞ 8

Text: Summon your top three dead units as 1/1 with lifesteal and wither. ➞ Summon your top three dead units as 1/1 with lifesteal wither and Hex. Ready them.

Reworked to use Hex and focus on value that turn. I like using enchants to nerf attachment recursion.

Elderfall (846)

Elderfall - Do 2 Damage to target front or back enemy. Summon Elderwood.

Text: Do 2 Damage to a target. Summon Elderwood. ➞ Do 2 Damage to target front or back enemy. Summon Elderwood.

Targeting nerf to a strong performer.

Jakintsu (513)

Jakintsu - Sunset: Give your hero +1 Health for each card in your hand.

    Spell: Invest ➞ Alight

Invest threatened a lot of health on top of a card that gives a lot of health anyway. Swapping it for another reveal effect in Wisdom.

Gale (439)

Gale - Glory: Ready your hero.

    Health: 4 ➞ 3

Health nerf, Shroud does good work protecting Gale.

Seal of Doom (572)

Seal of Doom - Lose 2 max mana. Give each unit -6/-6.

Text: Lose 2 max mana. Give each unit -7/-7. ➞ Lose 2 max mana. Give each unit -6/-6.

Nerfing the effect again, should still serve the role fine.

Earth Warden (945)

Earth Warden - Summon: Draw your cheapest earth spell onto this unit.

Text: Summon: Draw an earth spell onto this unit. ➞ Summon: Draw your cheapest earth spell onto this unit.

These cards felt awkward in decks with a lot of spells of the matching element, which seemed wrong. This change helps them scale through the game with decks built around that element.

Volcanic Potion (610)

Volcanic Potion - Do 2 Damage to each unit. Both players lose 1 max mana.

    Cost: 2 ➞ 3

    Keywords: None ➞ wither

Making Volcanic Potion and Fuji less efficient, so they're worse at stunting the early game.

Rage Cage (1053)

Rage Cage - Heroes get -2 Health from prism draws instead.

Text: None ➞ Heroes get -2 Health from prism draws instead.

Testing a way to punish prism draws.

Quality of life buff for a fine card.

    Power: 3 ➞ 1

    Health: 2 ➞ 3

Stats reduced, and worse at doing damage without the spell.

Hail of Arrows (683)

Hail of Arrows - Do 1 Damage to enemies. If you have no mana, give units in the enemy hand +1c.

    Cost: 4 ➞ 3

Text: Do 2 Damage to enemy units. If you have no mana, give units in the enemy hand +1c. ➞ Do 1 Damage to enemies. If you have no mana, give units in the enemy hand +1c.

    Cost: 7 ➞ 6

Text: Summon: Give enemy units Roots. ➞ Summon: Dust your top dead earth card to give the front and back enemy Roots.

Text: Glory: The enemy hero loses half their health, rounded up. ➞ Glory: The enemy hero gets -1 Health for each card in their hand.

    Keywords: lifesteal,wither ➞ stealth

    Power: 2 ➞ 3

Reworked to threaten a more sane amount of life loss.

Forest Fire - Do 3 Damage to each unit. For each killed, its hero summons Elderwood with Flames.

    Cost: 3 ➞ 4

Cost nerf to another card that is good at filling hands.

Clapback (641)

Clapback - Give your hero Shield. Do 2 Damage to the back enemy, the front enemy, and the enemy hero.

Text: Do 2 Damage to the back enemy, the front enemy, and the enemy hero. ➞ Give your hero Shield. Do 2 Damage to the back enemy, the front enemy, and the enemy hero.

Buff. I like the idea of hero Shield as an alternative to healing in banner decks.

Libra (1115)

Libra - Summon: Give your hero +7 Health.

    Cost: 8 ➞ 7

    Prism: hrt ➞ wis

    Spell: Shield ➞ None

Moving a big source of healing out of Heart, and bumped down the curve.

Mad Hat (1029)

Mad Hat - Play: A target draws their cheapest mind spell onto it.

Text: Play: A target draws a mind spell onto itself. ➞ Play: A target draws their cheapest mind spell onto it.

Draw cheapest buff, though it's worse at pulling out a Frantic Inquiry.

Miss Aya (475)

Miss Aya - Inspire Earth: Give your hero +1 Health. Get 1 mana next turn.

Text: Inspire Earth: Get 1 mana next turn. ➞ Inspire Earth: Give your hero +1 Health. Get 1 mana next turn.

Adding some extra impact to this Inspire trigger.

Text: Kill target ally unit. Draw two of its element. Give each -1c. ➞ Kill target ally unit. Draw two of its element.

Simplifying last patch's buff, the cost reduction was a bit much with the tutoring. (Looking at you Ill Will.)

Deepus (833)

Deepus - Sunset: Conjure a water card if your deck is empty.

    Health: 9 ➞ 7

    Spell: Vapors ➞ Anchor Drop

Stealing the Anchor from Octavian. Stat nerf given the more impactful spell.

Fun Guy (13)

Fun Guy - Death: Give ally units +1/+1. Add Doom Shroom to your deck.

    Keywords: guard ➞ guard,lifesteal

    Health: 2 ➞ 1

Reverting the last change to Fun Guy, I think it plays more fair with 1hp.

Light Ranger (849)

Light Ranger - Summon: Draw your cheapest light spell onto this unit. Give your hero health equal to its cost.

Text: Summon: Draw a light spell onto this unit. Give your hero health equal to its cost. ➞ Summon: Draw your cheapest light spell onto this unit. Give your hero health equal to its cost.

Another buff to draw cheapest, though it makes big heals less consistent.

Blademaster (1112)

Blademaster - Costs less equal to your hero's power.

    Keywords: wither ➞ lifesteal

Swapping keywords, to heal the banner deck.

Clone Army (258)

Text: Add a copy of each ally unit to your deck as metal with +1/+1. ➞ Add a base copy of each ally unit to your deck, with Lead and +1/+1.

Swapped the metal change to something more impactful. Another enchant used to restrict recurring attachments.

Bauble (940)

Bauble - Summon: Draw your cheapest air spell onto this unit.

Text: Death: Draw your cheapest air spell onto your hero. ➞ Summon: Draw your cheapest air spell onto this unit.

I think original Bauble was not too far from this.

Mad Vibes (508)

Mad Vibes - Target unit fights itself. Mulligan that player's spells.

    Cost: 3 ➞ 4

Only attached to Starseer, nerfing the efficiency of a removal spell attached to a 1c unit.

Nessie (905)

Nessie - Play: Gains power equal to your mana.

Text: Summon: Gains power equal to your mana. ➞ Play: Gains power equal to your mana.

Nerfed the effect to be less spooky with new Jar of Souls. Might be overkill.

Swapping stats to reduce armored hp.

Minstrel (1054)

Honor Guard - Death: Summon Armored Guard.

    Cost: 6 ➞ 5

Hot Doge - Summon: Draw your cheapest fire spell onto this unit and ready it.
