Preseason Winners

Last week on March 20th we saw the conclusion of the Preseason and the beginning of Season 0! The top 500 players in either Constructed or Discovery who reached the rank of Scholar and above will receive a rare Golden card upon the start of Open Beta later this year! Check out the full list of winners here to see if you made the cut! If not, no worries 😸 you can try again right now during Season 0!

Improvements

  • Added an animation when a unit's stat changes
  • Added an animation when units gain health πŸ’š

Bug Fixes

  • End turn button no longer displays "Rival turn" when players take an action
  • Cards you unlock through play correctly display as Base (they were incorrectly showing as Silver in some cases)

"Tune-up patch. No new or removed cards. Nerfed high performers to give the meta some space. Moved units down the curve to help discovery. Added "conjure" (again again) to describe drawing from prisms without taking damage. Cards that draw from enemy prisms now use conjure. Some changes were omitted."

Swipe (554)

Swipe - Conjure an enemy card. Steal 1 max mana from the enemy.

Text: Draw from the enemy prisms. Steal 1 max mana from the enemy. ➞ Conjure an enemy card. Steal 1 max mana from the enemy.

    Keywords: None ➞ banner

Loss of draw damage, but banner should be a buff.

Squiddy (980)

Squiddy - Glory: Conjure a 1c enemy card.

Text: Glory: Draw a 1c card from the enemy prisms. ➞ Glory: Conjure a 1c enemy card.

    Power: 3 ➞ 4

Loss of draw damage, but an extra point of power should be a buff.

Arcadeum Mask (110)

Arcadeum Mask - Inspire Spell: Draw a spell onto this unit.

    Cost: 7 ➞ 6

    Health: 6 ➞ 5

Buffed down the curve, the win rate has been low.

Carbonite (585)

Carbonite - Your hero has armor.

    Cost: 2 ➞ 3

    Power: 2 ➞ 3

Nerfing up the curve.

Icaru (569)

Icaru -

    Keywords: guard ➞ None

Spell: Beloved ➞ Call to Action

Nerf to guard and healing.

Unstoppable Chop (416)

Unstoppable Chop - Give target unit Silence. Do 5 Damage to it.

Text: Give target unit Silence. Do 4 Damage to it. ➞ Give target unit Silence. Do 5 Damage to it.

Buff, more inline with Anchor Drop.

Grifter (1102)

Grifter - Glory: Mulligan the enemy hand.

    Health: 3 ➞ 2

Nerf. Knives is useful as-is, and now the glory mulligan threat is more fragile.

Brainbug (1063)

Brainbug - Conjure three enemy cards.

    Cost: 6 ➞ 5

Text: Draw three from the enemy prisms. ➞ Conjure three enemy cards.

Cost buff, this was hit hardest by loss of draw damage.

Ragnarok (530)

Ragnarok - Give target ally unit lifesteal and +3/+1, or do 6 Damage to target dark enemy.

Text: Give target unit lifesteal and +3/+1. Do 3 Damage to dark enemies. ➞ Give target ally unit lifesteal and +3/+1, or do 6 Damage to target dark enemy.

Removing the free element hate, back to being a choice.

Volcanic Blast (807)

Volcanic Blast - Do 2 Damage to each unit. Dust your top dead fire card to give each unit Flames.

Text: Do 2 Damage to each unit. Dust your top dead fire card to give enemies Flames. ➞ Do 2 Damage to each unit. Dust your top dead fire card to give each unit Flames.

Nerfed so the flames are symmetrical, and no longer on the enemy hero.

Twist & Turn (716)

Twist & Turn - Dust each unit. Both players draw a unit into play of each element they dusted. Give them Dazed.

    Cost: 6 ➞ 5

Text: Dust each unit. Both players draw a unit into play of each element they dusted. ➞ Dust each unit. Both players draw a unit into play of each element they dusted. Give them Dazed.

Taking a page out of Entwail's book to lower the upfront cost of this spell. Slowing down what the enemy gets should be a nice buff.

Libra (1115)

Libra - Summon: Give your hero +7 Health.

    Health: 5 ➞ 4

More nerf to chonky armor health.

Dream Dragon (340)

Dream Dragon - Gets +1/+2 when returned to your deck.

    Cost: 6 ➞ 5

    Power: 5 ➞ 4

    Health: 5 ➞ 4

Buff down the curve. I like what this card wants to do, but it still needs work.

Octomage (859)

Octomage - Summon: Draw a 4c spell onto this unit.

    Keywords: None ➞ banner

Buff.

Scooter (1046)

Scooter -

    Keywords: armor,guard ➞ armor

    Power: 0 ➞ 1

Nerf to guard with armor, to get more damage on heroes.

Steel Shield (727)

Steel Shield - Death: Give your hero Buckler Up.

    Health: 6 ➞ 5

Another nerf to guard with armor.

Mad Vibes (508)

Mad Vibes - Target unit attacks itself. Mulligan that player's spells.

    Cost: 4 ➞ 3

Buff. Has had a lackluster winrate. This also buffs Desire, so double buff to Wisdom.

Dungeon Master (972)

Dungeon Master - Play: Give target enemy Chains.

    Cost: 7 ➞ 6

    Power: 6 ➞ 5

    Health: 5 ➞ 4

Buffed down the curve.

Ponderous (323)

Ponderous - Attachments on allies have -1c.

Text: Spells on allies have -1c. ➞ Attachments on allies have -1c.

Buffed to affect all attachments. I like that this is counterplay to things like Dazed.

Mootichi (670)

Mootichi - Inspire Spell: Draw a unit with a lower cost than the spell into play.

Text: Inspire Spell: Draw a unit into play of that spell's cost or less. ➞ Inspire Spell: Draw your most expensive unit with a lower cost than the spell into play.

Buffed to prefer summoning highest cost. Nerfed to only summon cheaper than the spell, so if you want a 0c unit play a 1c spell.

Leonitus (1105)

Leonitus - When another unit is summoned, give it Zap.

    Power: 3 ➞ 4

Small buff after last week's nerf.

Vial Vendor (1050)

Vial Vendor - Summon: Both players conjure 1c spells onto their units.

Text: Summon: Both players draw 1c spells onto their units. ➞ Summon: Both players conjure 1c spells onto their units.

    Power: 2 ➞ 3

Back to 3/3, but no longer does damage, and no longer pulls spells out of decks.

Supermind (1036)

Supermind - Inspire Mind: Give a random enemy unit Dazed.

Text: Inspire Mind: Give a random enemy Dazed. ➞ Inspire Mind: Give a random enemy unit Dazed.

Only Dazes units, which should make this a lot more fragile. Keeping the hero locked down is big sad.

Zam (474)

Zam - Inspire Spell: Do 2 Damage to a random enemy.

    Cost: 7 ➞ 8

Cost nerf. This should slow the combos down some, and put more pressure on cheating costs. I like Zam's role, though this exact effect may be unhealthy long-term.

Defrost (1121)

Defrost - Give enemy units -2 Power. Give your hero Vapors.

Text: Give your hero Vapors. Give enemy units -2 Power. Do 2 Damage to fire enemies. ➞ Give enemy units -2 Power. Give your hero Vapors.

Nerf to the elemental hate, this is a strong enough spell anyway.

Lead Goblet (936)

Lead Goblet - Give ally units Lead and +1/+1.

Text: Give allies Lead. Give ally units +1/+1. ➞ Give ally units Lead and +1/+1.

    Keywords: banner ➞ None

A nerf to simplify the card. Hero lead is interesting, but too much here.

Stargazer (1130)

Stargazer - When the enemy draws a card, reveal it.

    Cost: 3 ➞ 2

    Keywords: banner ➞ None

    Spell: None ➞ Dreams Undreamt

Bumped down the curve, with a spell that should help later in the game.

Righteous (1135)

Righteous - When another unit is killed, dust it instead to give your hero +1 Health.

    Cost: 6 ➞ 5

Text: When a unit is killed, dust it instead to give your hero +1 Health. ➞ When another unit is killed, dust it instead to give your hero +1 Health.

    Keywords: banner ➞ lifesteal

    Power: 4 ➞ 5

    Health: 7 ➞ 5

Buffed down the curve to help position the counterplay. Keyword changed to focus role on lifegain.

Draco (1136)

Draco - Summon: This unit readies if an enemy has 30 Health or more.

    Cost: 7 ➞ 6

    Power: 7 ➞ 6

Buffed down the curve.

Doomsday (1080)

Doomsday - Give each unit Fate. Kill each unit.

    Prism: wis ➞ hrt

These mass removal spells have been shifting, but Doomsday feels at home in Heart to me.

Mass Confuse (134)

Mass Confuse - Each unit attacks itself. Both players mulligan their spells.

    Prism: hrt ➞ wis

Swapped with Doomsday.
